Our names are Mark Bernstein and Akira Fletcher — Co-Founders of Benchmark Tutoring.

Our passion lies in turning tutoring into an interactive experience between a student and a role-model. We find purpose in leading Melbourne's youth through their educational journey, while also achieving academic success. Already, we have received countless positive reviews from satisfied families across Melbourne.

In our combined experience, we achieved top-tier 99+ ATARs, earned a Premier Award, and cultivated extensive tutoring expertise across various renowned companies. Our dedication to education even led us to deliver revision seminars to entire school cohorts and classrooms of 15+ students.

The ability to articulate

A tutor's expertise in the subject matter is paramount. That's why we hire high 90 ATAR scoring tutors. But what's more important is the ability to articulate. We look out for someone who not only excelled in their specific subjects but can also explain complicated concepts in a concise and comprehensible manner. This is a key trait we seek out during the practical segment of our application process.

The ability to adapt & personalise lessons

Every student is unique, with individual learning styles and challenges. The best tutors can realise when their explanations aren't working for their student, and they can proceed to illustrate concepts in a different manner specifically for that student. They are aware of what their student's needs in school are, whether that may be catching up to the class or looking to excel ahead. They can adapt their lesson structures to achieve those goals.

Genuine care for students

You want that tutor who will be there to celebrate your wins with you, but also take the time to reflect on what can be improved when things don't go as planned. A consistent tutor that will be committed to lessons every week without having to frequently cancel. As they say, consistency is key — weekly lessons build momentum whereas we find that not nearly as much value can be gained from monthly or bi-weekly lessons.
